Swimming Scholarship
Laverton Wyndham Aquatics’ (LWA) Swimming Scholarship aims to foster swimmers with proven potential as competitive swimmers who may not have access to the high standard of facilities and coaching that are available at LWA. It is envisaged that the successful applicant/s will join an appropriate training squad as directed by the LWA’s coaching team and receive all the benefits of club membership at no cost to the scholarship winner.

Successful applicants will be entitled to participate in the training and gym sessions at the appropriate assessed level for the period of one year from 1 July to 30 June.

Annual scholarships for swimmers 13+ covering coaching, travel, and uniform support. Applications open annually.
Scholarship beneficiaries will receive

Free entrance to Aquapulse

Free professional swim coaching and gym training (approx. value $2,880 to $3,200).

Free Flights to one Australian Championship event each year (approx. value $400) if they qualify for such an event

One issue of all standard LWA Club Uniform including tracksuit, t-shirt, and 2 swim caps (approx value $300).

Eligibility
Applicants should be:

Registered swimmers of Swimming Victoria
-
Exceptional swimming ability;
-
Potential for further development as competitive swimmers.

Highly motivated.

Aged 13 years and over
Successful applicants will be expected to
-
Become registered members of Laverton Wyndham Aquatics for the duration of the Scholarship;

Maintain high standards of sportsmanship and personal behavior at all times;

Maintain regular attendance and commitment at training and comply with all reasonable directions of all coaches;

Compete in all competitions designated by the head coach and/or team manager;

Maintain satisfactory academic levels

Maintain Membership with Laverton Wyndham Aquatics for a minimum of 2 years.
Next steps
In the event a swimmer quits competitive swimming, register with a different swimming club, or not abide by any of the above conditions during the term of the scholarship, the Club will no longer continue to provide the aforementioned services and may seek to recover fees due for services rendered.
The progress of the LWA Swimming Scholarship holder will be monitored at regular meetings with the Coach and Club’s Committee. The Club, reserves the right to revoke the Swimming Scholarship if any of the above conditions are not adhered to.

The period of the Scholarship is one year. Past winners of the scholarship will not be eligible to re-apply for a new scholarship. Existing LWA members are not eligible to apply.
The Club reserves the right that, if, in any year, it is its decision that no applicant for the Scholarship is of a suitably standard, no award will be made. The Club may award more than one scholarship and may also award a scholarship part way through the year.
All applications will be strictly confidential and the decision of the Club will be final.
